Pokerstars Poker Room Review:

Pokerstars.com has become the largest online poker room in the world. Their rise to the top was propelled by back to back World Series of Poker main event winners Chris Moneymaker in 2003 and Greg Raymer in 2004. Both players entered inexpensive online satellites to win their entry to the main event. Pokerstars has since signed 2005 winner Joseph Hachem to their team and have ensured their traffic numbers stay healthy by continuing to accept players from the United States. The site offers the biggest tournaments of any site, including their weekly million dollar guarantee which draws over 6,000 players. For a small investment, tournament prize pools are enormous because every tournament has a large number of entries. All of the well known online poker pros fill most of the higher buy in daily tournaments, which can make the competition tougher then you would find elsewhere, but no where else can you find the daily prize pools that Pokerstars tournaments create. Their cash games are always running no matter which game you want to play and their sit and gos take seconds to fill up. A good idea is to play their satellites especially the double shootouts in order to win a seat in some of their weekly guaranteed tournaments giving you a good opportunity to parlay a small investment into a huge payday.

Pokerstars Strategy Analysis:

Pokerstars probably has the toughest player base of all the sites. The skill level here is extremely talented and makes consistent winning much tougher. You will have to adjust to this and realize that your competition more then likely knows what they are doing. This site is probably the place to play if you enjoy tournaments and sit and gos, but may not be the most lucrative place for cash games. Rebuy tournaments of $3, $5, and $11 have guaranteed prize pools that are huge and are always bigger then the guarantee anyway. Play smart tight aggressive style of play and you should be able to have success here, but understand that the no limit tournaments often come down to having to win a lot of coin flip races against your opponents which makes getting to the final table very tough. Always play to finish in the top 3 in their tournaments because the tournaments pay structure is top heavy.
